Pulihoara (tamarind Rice)

                    
 I     Ingredient:


 1.  Cooked Rice                   2 Cups
  2.   Urud dal                         2 TBS
  3.   Chana dal                       2 TBS
  4.   Coriander seeds              1TBS
  5.   Sesame seeds                1 ½ TBS
  6.   Red chilies                      2
  7.   Tamarind paste                ½ cup
  8.   Salt                                 1TBS
  9.   Curry Leaves                   2 Bunches
10.   Red Chillies                     2
11.   Hing                               ¼ TSP
12.   Turmeric Powder             1 TSP
13.   Urud Dal                         1 TBS
14.   Mustard Seeds                1 TSP
15.   Oil                                  3 TBS
16.   Chana dal                       1 TBS

      Method:

1.        Cook Rice in a pressure Cooker (1:2 Rice vs. water ratio)
2.        Dry roast ingredients 2,3,4,5, 6 until they emanates a nice aroma
3.         Add all the roasted ingredients into a mixer and make a powder
4.        Add oil to a pan, once the oil is hot enough add Turmeric Powder and Mustard Seeds
5.        Once they sputter add Red Chilies, Urad Dal ,Chena dal, Curry leaves and Hing,
6.        After they fry for a min or two add tamarind paste and let it cook till it becomes thick
7.        Add this to the rice with salt and mix well
8.        Add the ground powder to this rice mix and pulihora is ready.

Ti   Tips: Adding a tsp. of sugar or jiggery will enhance the flavor of this dish.
